On Friday, at the Government House in Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II was presented with his reappointment letter by Governor Abba Yusuf.

The governor, exercising the authority granted to him by the Kano Emirate Council Law of 1984 and 2024, and backed by the endorsement of the kingmakers, proudly announced the second term appointment of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano and the leader of the Kano Emirate Council.

During the ceremony, Governor Yusuf reiterated the responsibilities of the Emir and encouraged him to govern in accordance with Islamic principles. He emphasized that the Emir’s reappointment was based on his proven competence, credibility, and popularity.

The governor further urged the Emir to use his influential position to unify the emirate and promote peace among the various Islamic sects in the state. The event, attended by traditional rulers, kingmakers, and other high-ranking dignitaries, occurred just a day after Governor Yusuf enacted the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024.
