Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, has responded to a report by The Nation claiming that he is not planning to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reacting to the article, El-Rufai took to his social media platform, X, to express his disbelief at the speculation.
El-Rufai commented, “BELIEVE ‘THE NATION’, THEN YOU MUST BELIEVE ANYTHING,” dismissing the claim and reinforcing that he has no intentions of leaving the party.
The former governor was later asked about the rumors during a National Conference in Abuja, where he firmly stated, “I am not leaving the APC. I don’t have such plans.”
While he has been outspoken in criticizing the APC’s direction, El-Rufai clarified that his intent is not to exit the party but to advocate for changes within it. “No, no, no, I want them to change,” he explained, underlining his desire for reform within the party.
This clarification follows El-Rufai’s earlier remarks about the APC’s drift from its founding principles.
