Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for president in the general elections of 2023, has reaffirmed that his group has what it takes to turn Nigeria around permanently.

On Tuesday, Obi gave a speech in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, at the launch of Athan Achonu’s campaign for governor of the state’s Labour Party.

The former governor of Anambra State claimed that by virtue of his attendance at the campaign flag-off alongside other NEC members of the party, Achonu is the only authorized candidate for governor on behalf of the Labour Party in the Imo State governor election scheduled for November 11.

In front of ecstatic party fans, Obi addressed at the Kanu Nwanwko Sports Complex in Owerri.

Along with Achonu, the party’s NEC members, and the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, Obi was present at the event.

The party’s leaders took turns addressing the audience about the importance of supporting the Labour Party in the state and clearing up any confusion over the real party candidate for governor in the upcoming election.

Obi reaffirmed that his party has the ability and everything necessary to lead the nation and put it in a better position for the long term. He urged residents of Imo to support the Labour Party in the upcoming election.

Achonu, who spoke in the Igbo language, claimed that among other things, if elected governor, he would deal with insecurity, give jobs to the large number of young people who are unemployed, and promote local government autonomy.
