The Imo State Police Command has strongly condemned the recent arson attack at the National Open University (NOUN) in Ezeoke Nsu, Ehime Mbano, as well as the residence of former Senator Frank Ibezim.

The attack occurred on Monday at approximately 9 PM, and the perpetrators remain unidentified.

Police spokesperson Henry Okoye stated that the Command will collaborate with other security agencies to locate and apprehend those responsible for the incident.

Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has deployed the Command’s Tactical Unit to investigate the situation and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to thoroughly examine the case.

“This senseless and unwarranted arson reflects a troubling trend of violence that threatens the safety of our communities,” Okoye quoted CP Danjuma as saying. “The Command is resolute in its opposition to such acts and will take all necessary actions alongside other security agencies to bring the criminals to justice.”

In light of the attack, CP Danjuma has ordered the Tactical Unit to swiftly identify and apprehend those responsible. He has also emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that all involved in the attack face legal consequences.

Additionally, he urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation or making inflammatory statements that could disrupt peace in the state, warning that anyone found guilty of disseminating false information would face serious repercussions.

The police, in cooperation with other security agencies, remain committed to maintaining peace and order and encourage citizens to assist law enforcement in safeguarding their communities.
