Senator Ibrahim Lamido has announced his exit from the All Progressives Congress, saying rising insecurity and the struggles faced by his people pushed him to take the step.

Sharing the update on his X page, the lawmaker who represents Sokoto East explained that he could no longer remain in a party that, in his view, has not done enough to protect lives and ease hardship in his constituency.

Lamido said his decision takes immediate effect and reflects his responsibility to stand with the people he represents during difficult times. According to him, growing safety concerns and worsening living conditions have made it necessary to part ways with the ruling party.

He stressed that leadership must always put the wellbeing of citizens first, adding that he is committed to seeking better solutions for his region moving forward.
