Iran has condemned France for its controversial representation of Jesus Christ during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, calling it “insulting” and “offensive.”

The Iranian statement emphasized that France, with its deep Christian roots, should feel ashamed of such an act and urged Christians worldwide to denounce it.

The remarks came after a segment of the ceremony featured a parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper,” performed by drag artists, which sparked outrage among many in the Christian community
