Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Yusuf Guruntum has given Nigerians a blunt warning about the coming 2027 election.

Guruntum said this vote is the chance to remove the people now in charge. He told citizens not to waste it.

He explained that anyone who plans to wait until after the winners take office and then start a protest is wasting time. Those who win will never hand over power and nothing can force that change later.

He also urged the African Democratic Congress to rise and shine as the country heads toward the polls. Nigeria will pick a new president lawmakers and governors in 2027. Many people have already taken to the streets over prices and safety. The sheikh is telling them the real work happens at the ballot box not after the results are in.

His message comes as political activity builds ahead of Nigeria’s next general election, with parties and politicians preparing for contests at federal and state levels.

The cleric has previously spoken about the importance of voting and warned Nigerians against relying on protests as the main way to change political leadership. A report published by Legit.ng in December 2025 said Guruntum urged citizens to use their votes to defeat politicians they no longer wanted in office and also warned voters against collecting money from politicians in exchange for political support.

Guruntum is a prominent Islamic preacher from Bauchi whose religious teachings have attracted a large audience through social media and other platforms. His public messages regularly address social and political issues affecting Nigerians.

With the 2027 election approaching, his latest intervention places the focus on voter participation and the use of the ballot box as the legal route for Nigerians seeking a change in leadership.
