The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has dumped his Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku, and picked a female lawyer, Barr. Nnedinma Ekomaru, as his running mate for the 2023 governorship election coming up in November in the State.

Deputy Governor Njoku was sworn in as Deputy Governor of Imo State alongside Uzodimma but was sidelined in the scheme of events as little or nothing is heard from or about him for the three years the administration has been running.

In his place, Governor Uzodimma has reportedly picked Mrs. Ekomaru, wife of Barr. Chukwuma Ekomaro (SAN), from Umunoha, Mbaitoli Loval Government Area, as his running mate.

Barr. Chukwuma is a one-time Commissioner under the administration of Chief Achike Udenwa, as well as a one-time governorship aspirant.
