The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly rejected recent statements and actions it described as “false, mischievous, and unauthorized,” concerning the inauguration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai into the party.
In a statement issued Saturday by State Secretary Victor Oluwatuyi, the ADC leadership clarified that the chapter remains united and focused on strengthening its grassroots presence across all 23 local government areas ahead of the 2027 elections.
The controversy stems from two incidents: a publication allegedly authored by the State Publicity Secretary labeling El-Rufai’s induction as “fraudulent,” and a press conference held by a faction led by Hon. Adamu Dattijo, who claimed to represent “concerned stakeholders.” The group accused El-Rufai and other political figures of attempting to hijack the party.
Oluwatuyi dismissed both as baseless and divisive. “The statement by the Publicity Secretary was his personal opinion, not that of the State Working Committee or Executive Committee,” he said, noting that he and other senior officials were present at El-Rufai’s inauguration.
He further condemned the press conference as a reckless attempt to sow discord, asserting that the individuals involved lacked any mandate to speak for the party. “Their allegations are unfounded and malicious,” he added.
The ADC vowed disciplinary action against those responsible for impersonating officials or issuing unauthorized statements. “We will not tolerate indiscipline or any effort to undermine our unity,” Oluwatuyi warned.
Calling on members and the public to disregard the misinformation, the party emphasized its commitment to internal cohesion and electoral success. It also urged the national leadership to support the Kaduna chapter in safeguarding its integrity.
“The ADC belongs to all its members, not a select few with selfish agendas,” the statement concluded. “Anyone caught misrepresenting our leadership will face sanctions and may be reported to law enforcement.”
