The Kaduna State House of Assembly has recently expressed its concerns over the disruptive behavior of Hon. Bello Elrufai, the representative of Kaduna North Federal Constituency.

This statement was released on April 17, 2024, and endorsed by Mal. Suraj Bamalli, the CPSS/SSA Media and Strategic Communications to the Honorable Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

Following the formation of a committee to scrutinize financial transactions, loans, grants, and project implementations from 2015-2023 in Kaduna State, Hon. Bello Elrufai posted two now-deleted tweets on social media, hinting at a call to “fight” and showing disrespect towards the entire Legislative Arm of Government. He also sent offensive and subtly threatening messages to the Rt. Hon Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon Yusuf Liman, via WhatsApp.

These tweets and messages, whose screenshots have been widely shared, have raised concerns among Kaduna State citizens. It is disappointing that a Federal Lawmaker, who is supposed to represent the people, would resort to such actions in an attempt to hinder the lawful operations of the State Assembly. The Kaduna State House of Assembly wants to assure the citizens of Kaduna State that it remains committed to serving them without bias or prejudice.

The Assembly members, who have sworn an oath to maintain the integrity of their office and perform their duties diligently, will not be swayed by any form of intimidation or threats. Any threats or intimidation, even from federal lawmakers, will not discourage the Kaduna House of Assembly from its pursuit of justice and accountability. The Assembly is determined to uphold its mandate of providing checks and balances and maintaining the rule of law in Kaduna State.

The Assembly encourages the citizens of Kaduna State to stay alert and continue their support for transparency, accountability, and the rule of law. The Kaduna State House of Assembly is committed to serving the best interests of the state and its people.
