Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed deep concern over the appearance of teenagers, believed to be from Kano, in a federal court in Abuja.

In a statement, he emphasized that the Commissioner of Justice has been directed to take immediate action regarding the situation.

Yusuf assured that his administration will do everything possible to facilitate their return to Kano, stating, “In sha Allah,” indicating hope for a positive outcome.

The context of this statement arises from a recent court appearance where several minors, among a larger group of defendants, were charged with serious offenses such as treason and arson.

Reports indicate that many of these young individuals appeared frail and distressed after enduring weeks of detention, leading to public outrage and condemnation from human rights advocates. Activists have criticized the government’s treatment of these minors, labeling it as a form of institutional abuse.
