In a devastating incident along the Ngala-Dikwa road in Borno State, at least eight lives were lost due to a tragic landmine explosion, sending shockwaves through the region.

The event occurred near Kinewba village in Ngala, just 15 kilometers from the state capital, Maiduguri, emphasizing the alarming proximity of danger to densely populated areas.

The incident unfolded around 10:30 am when two commercial vehicles, en route from Ngala, were brutally damaged beyond repair by the powerful impact of the landmines.

According to a security source, eight civilians, including two children, are feared dead, while several others sustained critical injuries in the blast.

This unfortunate occurrence has sparked concerns about the safety of major roads in the region, posing a significant threat to both travelers and local residents.

The incident highlights the persistent security challenges faced by Borno State, which has been grappling with insurgency and related violent incidents for an extended period.

As the community mourns the loss of lives and grapples with the aftermath, the incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures and vigilance along key routes to safeguard the lives of those traveling through this volatile region.
