Police operatives in Ogun State have arrested Ogidan Mustapha and three others for mutilating the body of a 13-year-old girl, Oriyomi Adegboyega, who died from electrocution.

The incident took place in the Igode area of the state on Friday.

Mustapha was apprehended by local vigilantes around 1:30 a.m. while attempting to dump a wrapped body near the Igbosoro river. Upon inspection, the corpse was identified as Oriyomi, who had died the previous day. Her mother, Peace Adegboyega, confirmed that her daughter had been electrocuted on Thursday morning and arrangements for her burial were underway.

Shockingly, the young girl’s hands had been amputated. A search of Mustapha’s residence led to the recovery of two English pump-action rifles and various charms.

According to Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola, Mustapha denied involvement in the mutilation, claiming that Oriyomi’s father had asked him to bury the body far from their home. Three other men, who reportedly helped dig the grave, were also arrested.

Further investigation into the case is ongoing, and the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for deeper inquiry.
