On Saturday, June 15, 2024, armed men abducted the Managing Director of Fouani Company, which represents LG and Hisense brands, along with three Lebanese nationals while they were travelling by boat in Lagos.
The four foreign nationals were forcefully kidnapped near the Falomo Bridge as the victims were en route from Apapa to Victoria Island.
According to a source familiar with the incident, the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of $1.5 million for the release of the victims. The names of the abducted individuals have not yet been confirmed.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to Punch, stating that the police are investigating the matter. However, he declined to provide additional details, citing the sensitive nature of the situation.
The incident has raised concerns about the security situation in Lagos, particularly regarding the safety of business executives and expatriates. The abduction highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the city in ensuring the protection of its residents and visitors.
