The whereabouts of a good number of train passengers waiting to board a train from Irua Igueben railway station, Edo State, to Warri, Delta State, on Saturday, January 7, are still unknown.

This comes following the latest attack and abduction of an unspecified number of train passengers, waiting to board the train to Warri.

In the latest information before the Daily Sun, an unspecified number of suspected Herdsmen armed with AK 47 riffles and other life ammunition attacked the train station at Igueben, Saturday, January 7, in Edo State and kidnapped an unspecified number of passengers who were waiting to board the train to Warri Delta state, living many others with bullets wounds.

According to the police public relations officer of the Irua Division, Mr Chidi Nwabuzor, in a press statement shortly after the incident, the kidnappers came at about 4 pm on Saturday, January 7, attacked the station shooting sporadically into the air before kidnapping some and left some persons with bullet wounds.

The police release also informed that men and officers of the Area Command Irrua, Igueben Division, as well as Edo state Security Network, local vigilante, and hunters union, have visited the scene of the crime, with a view to protecting the lives and property of the remaining passengers while bush combing operations have commenced in order to rescue the victims and arrest the fleeing kidnappers.

Official statements from the Nigeria Railway Corporation and the Federal Ministry of Transportation are being awaited with respect to the latest incident. (The Sun)
