Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, shared an important statement on October 23, 2024, via his X handle.

He addressed the onboarding program for the 260 Ward Councillors who are part of the State Project Management Team for Smart Green Schools and Primary Healthcare Centres.

In his remarks, Governor Mbah emphasized the need for councillors and local government chairmen to take ownership of development projects. He urged them to rigorously monitor progress and hold contractors accountable for quality and timelines, highlighting the urgent social and economic challenges faced by their communities.

The ambitious initiative includes the establishment of 260 Smart Green Schools and 260 Primary Healthcare Centres, integral to the state’s economic vision. These projects, expected to be completed by February 2025, aim to equip residents with essential skills and healthcare services, positioning Enugu for 21st-century productivity. By September 2025, every child in Enugu State will have access to a Smart Green School, paving the way for a brighter future.

Governor Mbah reminded the councillors that true economic growth originates from grassroots efforts. As they strive to elevate Enugu’s economy from N4.4 billion to N30 billion, he stressed that this transformation will rely on the active participation of the 17 Local Government Areas and 260 wards. The councillors are tasked with attracting industries and fostering local development.

With a collective effort, Governor Mbah expressed his confidence that Enugu State will realize its vision of prosperity and growth. “Tomorrow is here!” he concluded, motivating attendees to embrace the challenge ahead.
