Africa on Tuesday evening booked a spot in the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals after a determined Atlas Lions of Morocco eliminated favourites Spain in their Last 16 encounter at the Education Stadium in Qatar.

Scoreless through extra time, Morocco came through at the end, knocking out the World Cup heavyweights.

The Africans had better scoring chances during full and extra time but missed all scoring chances.

In the ensuring penalty kicks, Spain hit the bar with their first kick while goalie Yassine Bono saved two Spanish kicks to fetch Morocco victory.
