In a video shared widely on social media, Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who was reportedly abducted and physically assaulted by members of the Nigeria Police Force in Owerri, the capital of Imo state, has shared his ordeal.

The video, which was recorded in a moving vehicle, showed Ajaero in the back seat lamenting how police operatives maltreated him.

”My brother, they beat me o. God must have taken extra time to create me. Ordinarily, the kind of way I was beaten…..”

The man he was talking to was recording the interaction and lamented the maltreatment of Ajaero ”in this jet age.”

The circumstances surrounding the incident and the motives behind the shocking event are yet to be fully revealed.

However, the video testimony of the NLC President has sparked public outcry and raised concerns about the actions of law enforcement in the state.

Already, the NLC has accused Imo state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, of asking security operatives to manhandle their president.
