the Namibian Presidency revealed the passing of President Hage G. Geingob at the age of 82. According to a statement signed by the acting president, Nangolo Mbumba, Geingob breathed his last on Sunday at Lady Pohamba Hospital, where he had been undergoing medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

Surrounded by his devoted wife, Madame Monica Geingos, and his children, President Geingob’s medical team had been working tirelessly to ensure his recovery. Despite their spirited efforts, the President succumbed to his condition. Fellow Namibians were called upon to maintain composure and await further directives on the unfolding situation.

The statement expressed profound grief, describing President Geingob as a distinguished servant of the people, a liberation struggle icon, the chief architect of the Namibian constitution, and the bedrock of the Namibian nation. Urging the nation to remain calm, Acting President Mbumba assured that the government would handle all necessary state arrangements, preparations, and protocols. Additional announcements regarding these matters would follow in due course.

In a poignant plea, Mbumba stated, “At this moment of deepest sorrow, I appeal to the nation to remain calm and collected while the Government attends to all necessary state arrangements, preparations, and other protocols. Further announcements in this regard will be made.” The Cabinet was set to convene immediately to address and plan the required state arrangements.

As the nation mourns the loss of a remarkable leader, the statement concluded with a heartfelt wish: “May the Soul of our beloved Dr. Hage G. Geingob Rest in Eternal Peace.” President Geingob’s passing marks the end of an era, leaving behind a legacy of service, leadership, and dedication to the Namibian people.
