In a significant development for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Commissioner of Police Beneth Igwe assumed office on Friday amidst a growing security crisis in the region, particularly on the outskirts of the city.
In an exclusive interview with THE WHISTLER, CP Igwe disclosed the existence of a comprehensive master plan aimed at curbing the escalating incidents of kidnapping and crime within the FCT. “We have a master plan for the security of the FCT. I do not need to say it out,” he stated succinctly, moments before addressing the press at the FCT Police Command in Abuja.
When questioned about addressing the perpetrators of crime in the FCT, CP Igwe asserted confidently, “They should know that their time is over.”
Prior to his recent appointment, CP Igwe served as the FCT Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Operation, earning recognition from colleagues for his track record and determination in executing the operational duties of the police force. Additionally, he holds the position of Commander of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), a unit established by the Nigeria Police Force to combat crime and criminality specifically in the capital territory. With the new leadership in place, residents and stakeholders are eager to witness the impact of the unveiled master plan on enhancing security across the Federal Capital Territory.
