The Initiative Against Human Rights Abuse and Torture (INAHURAT) has leveled serious allegations against Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, the wife of the Enugu State Governor, implicating her in a case of sexual molestation involving a primary school teacher and a 3-year-old girl in Enugu.
The National Coordinator of INAHURAT, Gerald O. Katchy, revealed in a press statement made available to THE WHISTLER that the 3-year-old girl was sexually molested by her female teacher, Nnenna F. Okoro, at Tender Link School in Enugu.
NN News Media learnt that disturbing photos of the incident, depicting blood around the child’s private parts, were shared with the media outlet.
Katchy alleged that, following Okoro’s arrest, the culprit and her collaborators, including the school’s proprietress, Mrs. Ngozi Ezebatu, have been attempting to secure her release. Despite the severity of the molestation, the Enugu State First Lady allegedly failed to visit the ailing child, whose health is deteriorating.
The statement criticized Mrs. Mbah, questioning her lack of empathy and failure to defend the Child Rights Act, leading to inadequate protection for the girl child in the state.
INAHURAT called for the immediate closure of Tender Link School by December 18, 2023, suspecting Mrs. Mbah’s involvement in the crime.
INAHURAT emphasized the need for the culprit to face legal consequences and questioned whether similar leniency would be shown if the victim were the Governor’s own daughter or granddaughter.
The NGO urged relevant authorities, including the Minister of Women Affairs, National Assembly Committees on Human Rights, the National Human Rights Commission, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Minister of Justice, to ensure justice is served in this distressing case.
