A member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, condemns politicians for urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider a 2027 presidential bid.

Mumuni argues that Nigeria is in a critical state, emphasizing that Tinubu needs to focus on governance, as he believes the president is still acclimating to his less-than-a-year-old tenure.

He warns against distracting Tinubu with premature political ambitions during this crucial period.

In response to the formation of the ‘Forum of 2023 APC Presidential Candidates,’ led by Ahmed Sani Yerima, Mumuni urges politicians to refrain from distracting the president with what he deems a political charade.

Yerima, the forum’s Convener/Acting Chairman, has expressed the primary goal of paving the way for Tinubu’s second term bid in 2027.

Mumuni asserts that the nation is currently facing critical challenges, making it inappropriate for politicians to push for Tinubu’s 2027 ambition less than a year into his first term.

He emphasizes Tinubu’s commitment to governance and advises against distracting him with premature political maneuvers during this crucial period.

The APC chieftain criticizes the formation of the 2027 political forum, labeling it a smokescreen for personal gain and urging former presidential aspirants to focus on contributing to their states’ development and improving the lives of the masses.

Mumuni warns against entertaining such political charades, cautioning that it may lead to a proliferation of advisory groups seeking to influence the presidency.
