Evangelist Musa Bello, a Fulani Christian preacher, revealed that Nigerian police officers harassed and extorted ₦60,000 from him, falsely accusing him of being a kidnapper due to his ethnicity.
The money, meant to support widows and their children, was taken by officers from Katari Police Station, who threatened to arrest him if he didn’t pay.
Bello, who has faced death threats and violence for his preaching, also recounted further harassment by police, calling the situation unbearable.
The thirty-six-year-old Evangelist and a prominent figure in the Preach The Gospel Ministry, has envisioned a Nigeria where Muslims can embrace Christianity through personal encounters with the faith.
His commitment to his faith led him to endure a brutal beating by a mob of Muslims on February 7, which resulted in his arrest and subsequent detention in Abuja.
Musa recently took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to address Nigeria’s Chief Superintendent of Police, Force Public Relations Officers (FPRO) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, expressing frustration over continuous threats and police harassment.
He recounted an incident with officers at Katari Police Station along the Abuja-Kaduna highway, who extorted ₦60,000 from him—money intended to feed two widows and their children. He revealed that they threatened to label him a kidnapper due to his Fulani ethnicity if he didn’t comply.
Musa also shared how his family was harassed again by officers from the Ushafa Police Station, only escaping severe consequences because one of the officers recognized him as a follower. He ended his plea by stating the harassment had become unbearable.
