Nigerians in shock as people who claim to be ‘fighter’ volunteer to join Ukraine to defend their country Just as the president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy waves visa requirement for fighters beyond borders.

According to reports, at “least 115 young energetic men” thronged the Ukrainian embassy to submit their applications.

The volunteers were seen at the Ukrainian embassy searching for the approval to move. Their willingness to go to the troubled country came as many other Nigerians, resident in Ukraine cry for help to return home.

The incident according to the Guardian Nigeria was confirmed by Bohdan Soltys who is the second secretary at the Ukrainian embassy. There was no confirmation of any female applicant.

Their decision left some Nigerians in shock because, many of these young men failed to volunteer for their country’s fight against the Boko Haram group causing havoc in Nigeria.

These applicants have equally acted against the position of President Muhammadu Buhari who sided with world leaders to condemn Russia for launching attacks on Ukraine and also said that, “we are going to act and engage within the framework of the United Nations. So if the United Nations adopts and imposes sanctions against Russia, we will comply with UN’s resolution.”
