President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that Nigerians who claim they are not seeing progress in roads, the economy, and national development may simply be unwilling to recognize what has been achieved.
He said that if people cannot see the improvement in infrastructure, the growth of the economy, and efforts to support children and national development, then “glasses” will be provided so they can see more clearly. He made these remarks at a Renewed Hope Agenda members event.
He also spoke about his leadership journey, saying his time in office is part of a broader continuity in Nigeria’s political history. He described former President Muhammadu Buhari as part of the same leadership experience, saying he views that period as a partnership in national service and governance.
Tinubu further criticized opposition figures, saying they lack a strong historical record in leadership. He referenced past government privatisation policies, including the steel sector, saying some of those decisions have not produced the desired results. He also made remarks about political structures and party developments linked to earlier privatisation eras.
On governance and democracy, Tinubu said Nigeria must protect democratic institutions and avoid actions he described as disorderly or disrespectful to lawful authority. He stressed that court decisions must be respected whether they are favorable or not, and called on citizens and leaders to rely on the judiciary. He added that safeguarding democracy is essential to national stability and progress.
