Nigeria’s National Grid experienced another collapse on Wednesday, marking the 12th such incident in 2024.

A tweet from the grid’s official handle confirmed the failure occurred at approximately 2:09 PM, stating, “The major grid setback has occurred, and the restoration is to commence.”

Jos Electricity Distribution Company (Jos Disco) also issued a statement confirming the event. According to Jos Disco, the grid collapsed at around 1:33 PM, resulting in widespread power outages across its service areas.

“We hope to restore normal power supply to our esteemed customers as soon as the grid supply is restored back to normalcy,” said Dr. Friday Elijah, Head of Corporate Communications for Jos Disco.

This marks the 12th grid collapse in 2024, with 11 previous incidents recorded between January and November. Efforts to restore power are reportedly underway.
