Nkiruka Nistoran, publisher of NN News Media, has voiced alarm over recent threats from the proscribes members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) targeting those who criticize their activities in the South-East, with claims that they will disrupt Peter Obi’s electoral prospects in 2027.

In a recent tweet, Nistoran questioned whether IPOB has forgotten its designation as a banned organization in the region, noting that anyone identified as an IPOB member risks severe consequences.

The rhetoric surrounding Nigerian politics by IPOB raises doubts about their commitment to the Biafran cause, especially as they engage in activities such as kidnapping and violence, despite the absence of a legitimate referendum for Biafra’s independence. Nistoran emphasized that the deception propagated by IPOB’s leadership, particularly by Nnamdi Kanu, should not be tolerated, asserting that the ongoing terror inflicted by IPOB must come to an end.

This sentiment is echoed by various Igbo youth on social media who are increasingly vocal against IPOB’s tactics, demanding an end to enforced sit-at-home orders and kidnappings that have plagued the South-East. The call for accountability and a return to peaceful discourse continues to grow among those who seek a resolution to the turmoil affecting their communities.
