The Kano Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has officially announced that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has emerged victorious in the Local Government elections across all 44 council areas.

The declaration was made by the Chairman of KANSIEC, Professor Sani Lawan Malunfashi, at the commission’s headquarters in Kano.

Professor Malunfashi stated that KANSIEC effectively executed its constitutional responsibilities, including planning, organizing, and conducting the Local Government elections in Kano State, Nigeria. He expressed satisfaction with the process, highlighting that the exercise was largely peaceful and successful.

He extended gratitude to key stakeholders, including security agencies, media organizations, political party leaders, civil society groups, religious leaders, community leaders, and youth and women organizations, for their contributions to fostering grassroots democracy in the state.

The chairman also acknowledged the support and prayers of the citizens of Kano State, attributing the peaceful conduct of the elections to the public’s acceptance and confidence in the process’s credibility and fairness.

A total of six political parties participated in the elections: AA, AAC, ACCORD, ADC, APM, and NNPP. Notably, the NNPP secured all 44 Local Government chairmanship positions and a total of 484 councillorship positions contested.
