Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has said Senator Iyioricha Ayu cannot be forced to resign as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman.

The PDP Presidential Candidate said this while responding to the decision of the camp of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who pulled out of his campaign council.

Some aggrieved members of PDP loyal to governor Nysom Wike after a meeting in the early hours of today in Port-Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State insisted that the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, must resign from his position for the sake of equity and Justice before they can rescind their decision.

While reacting in a statement he personally signed, Atiku said, “On the calls for the resignation or removal from office of our national chairman, however, I must reiterate what I have said severally in public and in private; the decision for Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to resign from office is personal to Dr. Ayu and, neither I nor anyone else can make that decision for him.”
