In a recent interview with Channels TV, former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose shared his perspective on the challenges facing Nigeria’s development under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Fayose stated, “The reason why it is difficult for Tinubu to develop Nigeria is because Northerners are giving birth to children they can’t cater for.”

He emphasized that the high birth rates in Northern Nigeria, coupled with insufficient resources and support, are significant obstacles to the country’s progress and development efforts. Fayose’s comments highlight the complexities of governance in Nigeria, particularly regarding population growth and resource management.

Fayose continued, “I was in one state in the north to visit someone, he told me that he has four wives and sixteen children. I asked him, how much is your salary? He said thirty something thousand.” This statement reflects ongoing debates about demographic trends and their implications for governance in Nigeria, as leaders grapple with the need for sustainable policies to address these challenges.
