Governors from the nineteen Northern states of Nigeria convened in Kaduna on Friday, spanning various political affiliations, to deliberate on critical issues affecting the region.

A key agenda item involved a collective commitment to pursue justice for victims and survivors of the Kaduna drone bombing perpetrated by the Nigerian army.

During the meeting, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State, underscored the necessity for a thorough investigation into the incident.

The governors expressed solidarity in urging relevant authorities to ensure justice, while also emphasizing the imperative of preventing a recurrence of such tragic events.

Governor Yahaya acknowledged the federal government’s prompt response to the incident and stressed the interconnectedness of security and development.

He assured that all nineteen Northern governors are collaboratively working towards investigating the incident, compensating victims, and implementing comprehensive measures to address security challenges, particularly those related to kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, in his remarks, highlighted the prevailing insecurity in the northern region and the declining human development indices.

He emphasized the need for unity among the Northern Governors Forum, urging collective efforts to formulate a development plan for the North.

Governor Sani stressed the importance of diversity and ethno-religious unity as foundational elements for regional peace, security, and development, calling for collaboration to empower the people as essential contributors to the North’s growth.
