Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has approved a new minimum wage of 75,000 Naira for workers in the state.

This announcement was made via a Facebook post by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, and the new wage will take effect from Monday, October 28, 2024.

Earlier in September, Governor Nwifuru had approved a minimum wage of 70,000 Naira for civil servants in Ebonyi. During a press conference at the New Government House in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, the governor clarified that the 70,000 Naira wage was not a salary increase, stating that it represents the minimum payment for workers, rather than the average salary for all employees.

In addition, Governor Nwifuru has instructed the State Head of Service to develop the necessary guidelines for implementing the new minimum wage.
