The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed that the minister of art, culture, and creative economy, Hannatu Musawa, is a serving corps member.
NN News Media had reported that the Director of Human Rights Writers Association, HURIWA in a scathing statement claimed that the Minister is a Corp member currently posted to a law firm located in the Wuse area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Musawa was the last Ministerial nominee to be screened by Akpabio-led rubber stamp Senate. Unfortunately, during the screening, she was only asked to “take a bow and go” without interrogating about her academic qualifications, including the controversy surrounding her NYSC discharge certificate.
Onwubiko in the statement further disclosed that the 9th Senate also rejected Musawa’s nomination by former President Muhammadu Buhari as a commissioner representing the Northwest at the National Pension Commission—PENCOM.
Her inability to submit her National Youth Service Corps—NYSC certificate was cited as reason for her rejection by Ahmed Lawan-led Senate.
He also alleged that years back, Musawa absconded during her NYSC in Ebonyi State but later showed interest to complete the program which she was later mobilised in 2023 before President Tinubu eventually picked her as a Ministerial nominee.
But while confirming the revelation of Emmanuel Onwubiko, Eddy Megwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the NYSC headquarters, told TheCable on Thursday that the Minister is a corp member.
“Yes, she is a serving corps member,” TheCable quoted Megwa as saying.
Meanwhile, since the disturbing revelation, Hannatu Musawa has blatantly refused to make an official statement in respect to the development.
