Labour Party’s presidential candidate for 2023, Peter Obi, and party Chieftains paid a heartfelt visit to the Al-Kadriyar family, mourning the tragic loss of their daughter, Nabeeha, who fell victim to a kidnapping that ended in her untimely death.
During the visit on Tuesday, Obi expressed his condolences and urged the government to take decisive measures against rising criminal activities in Nigeria.
In his remarks, Obi empathized with the profound pain experienced by parents who lose a child and reiterated the crucial role of security agencies and the government in fulfilling their responsibilities.
Nabeeha was among the victims abducted in the Sagwari Estate Layout, Dutsen-Alhaji area, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, during a series of abductions that left the community in shock.
The kidnappers, demanding a staggering N700 million ransom for nine victims, tragically claimed the lives of four hostages, including Nabeeha, a 400-level Biological Science student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The horrifying incident took place on January 2, where Nabeeha, along with six siblings and their father, Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar, were taken from their home at Zuma 1, on the outskirts of Bwari town.
In a notable development, the Nigerian Police Force achieved a breakthrough in the case, apprehending a suspected kidnapper, 28-year-old Bello Mohammed, during a hotel raid in Kaduna on January 20th.
The police revealed that Mohammed was in possession of N2.25 million in cash, believed to be part of the ransom money. This arrest marks a significant step toward justice for Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar and her grieving family.
