Yunusa Tanko, a key aide to Peter Obi, has been appointed as the new interim national coordinator of the OBIdient Movement.
This appointment was announced during a citizens’ engagement session with Peter Obi, via X space on Monday marking a significant development in the movement’s leadership.
The OBIdient Movement has been gaining substantial momentum since the 2023 presidential election, with a large number of young Nigerians rallying behind Peter Obi’s promises of frugality and accountability. As the chief spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, Yunusa Tanko has been vocal about the movement’s significance, emphasizing that it is larger than the Labour Party itself.
Tanko’s new role underscores the movement’s commitment to good governance and its ability to challenge both the party and its candidates if they deviate from the values of transparency and accountability. The OBIdient Movement is characterized by its diverse and inclusive nature, transcending traditional party, gender, and ethnic affiliations.
