The Obidient Movement, led by National Coordinator Dr. Tanko Yunusa, has firmly rejected former Governor Bisi Akande’s baseless claims that the movement orchestrated the historic EndSARS protests to prevent Bola Ahmed Tinubu from becoming President.

This narrative is seen as an insult to the memory of young Nigerians who lost their lives fighting against police brutality and a desperate attempt to rewrite history and shift blame for governmental failures.

EndSARS was a decentralized, youth-led movement demanding an end to police brutality, extrajudicial killings, and systemic oppression in Nigeria. It was not politically motivated nor aimed at any individual’s presidential ambitions. In 2020, Nigerians, especially the youth, took to the streets out of frustration with injustice, unchecked police violence, and a government that refused to listen.

To suggest that the Obidient Movement, which emerged years later as a symbol of hope, accountability, and good governance, was responsible for EndSARS is not only false but also a deliberate attempt to discredit the cause. The movement is composed of patriotic Nigerians united by the desire for a better country, not agents of chaos as Akande and his allies portray.

Instead of engaging in revisionist propaganda, Akande and his associates are urged to address the real issues facing Nigerians today: economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and bad governance. The suffering of the people cannot be masked by misinformation or historical distortion.

The Obidient Movement remains steadfast in its mission to restore integrity, transparency, and good governance in Nigeria. No amount of false accusations will deter the movement from advocating for a better future for the nation.
