In a significant stride towards fostering unity and engagement, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, made a compelling visit to the historic city of Kano as part of his nationwide tour.
Obi met with the Emir and participated in breaking the fast during Ramadan, fostering interfaith dialogue and unity.
On Monday, Obi paid a visit to the Sheikh Jibril Umar Jibril Mosque, fondly referred to as Triumph Mosque, nestled in the Fagge Local Government Area of the state. Here, he joined Muslim faithfuls in breaking their fast, an act symbolizing solidarity and inclusivity.
Arriving at the mosque just moments before the breaking of fast, the former Anambra State Governor expressed his unwavering commitment to the unity of Nigeria.
Addressing the gathering after the meal, Obi reiterated his belief in the vision of a unified Nigeria, transcending religious and ethnic divides. He emphasized the importance of collective prayers, especially during the auspicious month of Ramadan, for the betterment of the nation.
“I am delighted to join you all in breaking fast today. I firmly believe in our unity as a nation, irrespective of our diverse backgrounds. Let us pray together for the progress and prosperity of our beloved country,” remarked Obi.
Earlier in the day, Obi undertook a philanthropic endeavor by commissioning a borehole at the Sheikh Aminu Daurawa Mosque, located in the Dandalin Fagge area, underscoring his dedication to community development.
Additionally, the former governor paid a visit to the esteemed Emir of Kano, HRH Aminu Ado Bayero, at his palace, further exemplifying his commitment to engaging with local leaders and communities across the nation.
