The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a man named Tahiru Hamidu for allegedly engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a mentally unstable married woman in the Owode community, located in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.

According to a statement released by police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the suspect is accused of exploiting the victim multiple times before his arrest.

The allegations include threats made against the survivor’s brother-in-law, who reported the incident, asserting that Hamidu threatened to kill him if he interfered with his actions.

Odutola stated, “The survivor is mentally incapacitated. The brother-in-law claims that the suspect threatened him to prevent him from stopping the crimes.” The suspect reportedly lured the victim to a cassava plantation in the area, where he engaged in non-consensual sexual acts.

The investigation into these serious allegations is ongoing following Hamidu’s arrest.

In a related incident earlier this year, another suspect, Usman Bub, 26, was arrested for attempting to rape his pregnant neighbor’s wife at the Ogatalo Fulani Camp in Imala. Bub allegedly broke into his neighbor’s home and attempted to assault the sleeping pregnant woman but was thwarted by nearby residents.
