The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo has concluded arrangements with the South East governors to revive the Oseakwa Sea Port abandoned after the Civil War and two more Sea Ports along the coastal region in the area.

The body has also urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure equity, fairness and balance in making political appointments to his administration devoid of tribe, ethnic or religious colourations.

According to the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the reviving of the three Seaports would jump-start and fasten the socioeconomic development of the area and improve the general economy of the country.

“This plan for 3 Seaports in Igbo land is contained in the Ohaneze Investment Development Corporation which would be incorporated before the end of the year and it is done in conjunction with the five governors at least we are sure of five and the other two may be involved too”

“Ohaneze intends to have more Seaports in Igbo land and we have the possibility of a Seaport in Oguta another Seaport around Okija, Ihiala and we also have it in Ukwa in Abia state”

“So we have plans to get three Seaports and if we can get these three Seaports it is going to boost business and Nigeria will earn more money from there and it will of course help develop Igbo land”

“Most of the containers that are imported into this country are owned by Igbo businessmen and if we are able to develop those Seaports and develop our power infrastructure new towns and businesses would spring up ”

On the appointments so far made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he advised that he should ensure equity fairness and balance adding that appointments should not be made based on party loyalty or membership or religious colourations.

He noted that after general elections governance becomes people-oriented and issues of who voted for who or which party do not come into place.

“We are Nigerians and the President is the President of Nigeria and President of one political party or one tribe or one religion so there should be fairness and equity in making those appointments ”

Iwuanyanwu noted that the hostilities against Ndigbo are regrettable adding that Nigerians cannot wish away the modest and great contributions of the Igbos to the development of the country.
