Abia State’s Governor, Alex Otti, has affirmed his administration’s commitment to progress, undeterred by opposition distractions.

Speaking at an inter-denominational church service in Umuahia, the state capital, marking his first year in office, Otti called for prayers for the state.

The Governor emphasized his administration’s dedication to delivering the benefits of democracy and welcomed constructive criticism, assuring that distractions would not deter him. “We’re not here to celebrate, but to express gratitude. We thank the electorate and God, who is in control. We’re unapologetic about serving God and the people,” he said.

Otti declared his resolve to do what’s right, regardless of who it affects. “The opposition is gathering, but they will eventually disperse,” he stated.

Having completed a quarter of his tenure, the Governor sees it as an opportunity to assess his performance and identify areas for enhancement.

Otti appreciated the unity among the state’s churches and assured there would be no division under his administration. He stressed that his administration does not discriminate, as evidenced by his appointment of non-Abians to various positions in the state. “We select the best in terms of skills and competence, not based on ethnicity or state of origin,” he said.

The Governor also shared his vision to transform Umuahia into a proper state capital, akin to Oshodi in Lagos State. “We envision a transformed Umuahia in the coming year,” he added.
