The Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom has called for the release of the leader of the Indigenous peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

Ortom made the call via his official twitter handle on Thursday.

Federal government had arrested Nnamdi Kanu in Kenya and repatriated him back to Nigeria, however the case is in the court.

But Ortom demanded his release for peace to reign, saying Buhari government released and reintegrated Boko Haram terrorists who pose a greater threat to the country’s unity into the society.

He words, If the peace process in the country is to be taken seriously, I call for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. This is a socio-political challenge that must be dealt with politically.

Even Boko Haram members who pose a greater threat to the country’s unity have often been pardoned, freed and reintegrated into the society.
