In a resounding acknowledgment of his outstanding leadership, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has been bestowed with the prestigious NN News Media award as the Eastern Governor of the Year 2023.

Otti’s remarkable achievements and transformative initiatives have set him apart, earning him accolades for spearheading foreign investments totaling $150.09 million in the state. This significant feat places him at the forefront among his peers, with Akwa-Ibom Governor Umo Eno following closely with an impressive $65,000 in foreign business attraction.

Governor Otti’s commitment to progress is evident in his swift execution of both completed and ongoing projects within just seven months of assuming office. The governor’s vision for the people of Abia has garnered praise, recognized as a real-time manifestation of promises made during his campaign.

Meanwhile, Akwa-Ibom Governor Umo Eno secured the second position in NN News Media Eastern award, celebrated for his visionary leadership that has positively impacted the people of Akwa Ibom. However, the accolades were not as favorable for Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who emerged as the least favored governors in the NN News Media Eastern Governor’s Award.

In a scathing critique, our correspondent found that since Governor Uzodinma assumed office, Imo State has experienced a decline in its economy, marred by rising insecurity. Armed agitators and unknown gunmen have turned the state into a terrorism hotspot, leading to the displacement of communities from their homelands.

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has faced allegations of deception in his leadership, particularly regarding a water project that, according to our findings, exists only on social media and television. Residents of the state accuse Mbah of executing no tangible projects since taking office, labeling him as a deceptive leader.

In Anambra, Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s tenure has been labeled as the worst in the state’s history, with accusations of failing to address insecurity. Our correspondent’s investigation reveals that, despite nearly four years in office, Soludo has failed to fulfill his campaign promises, leaving the Anambra people disillusioned.

In 2022, the ex-governor of Ebonyi state clinched the NN News Media award for the Best perfoming Eastern Governors, with the former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, securing the second position. Unfortunately, the former Governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu, was deemed the least effective governor of the year.

NN News Media, in a reminder to the governors of the Eastern region, emphasizes the vital role of serving the people’s interests, urging them to prioritize the well-being and progress of their constituents.
