In a recent announcement, Dr. Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, revealed plans to commence the rebuilding of two significant roads in Aba, namely Obohia Road and Ohanku Road. The announcement was made during the 2024 Chrism Mass at the Christ The King Catholic Church (CKC) in Aba.

In a surprising turn of events, Governor Otti also declared that pensioners who have been owed arrears since 2014 would receive their payments on March 28th. He assured the pensioners, “By the end of today, you will all have a reason to smile. Please check your accounts at the close of business.”

Governor Otti emphasized his dedication to delivering on his campaign promises and bringing about positive change for the people. He shared, “Work began on Obohia Road yesterday. After Easter, we will start work on Ohanku Road. We’re planning to use Cement Pavement Technology on Ohanku Road to ensure its longevity.”

Expressing gratitude for the support from the Catholic Church, Otti pledged to uphold good governance. He thanked the CKC, saying, “I appreciate the support you’ve given me. Thank you for your continued backing of our good governance.”

The Most Rev. Augustine Echema, the Catholic Bishop of Aba Diocese, lauded Governor Otti’s leadership and performance. He pointed to the ongoing reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road as a standard and applauded the governor’s accomplishments. He encouraged the governor, saying, “If you continue this way, your work will be your campaign for a second term. We Abians are proud of our Governor. You’ve done exceptionally well, and the people are pleased. When righteous people lead, the people rejoice. Thank you, and God bless you.”
