Abia State Governor Alex Otti has cautioned against early speculations surrounding the 2027 general elections, asserting that focusing too far ahead is akin to “trying to play God.”

Speaking on Sunday, Governor Otti emphasized the uncertainty of the future, urging political stakeholders and the public to concentrate on present realities.

“People in 2025 are already talking about 2027. Who are you to begin to talk about 2027 when there’s no guarantee you’ll even see beyond 2025?” he said.

He added, “Today is certain; tomorrow is a promise. The day after is a gamble. Let us talk about today. If we’re fortunate enough to see tomorrow, then we can start that conversation.”

Otti’s remarks appear to be a call for pragmatic governance and focus on current issues rather than political posturing years ahead of the next election cycle.
