Abuja, Thursday – The National Chairman of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, revealed a bold vision to enhance the party’s presence by increasing the number of governors and legislators under its banner.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Ganduje emphasized that the party’s commitment extends beyond electoral cycles, aiming for year-round engagement.

Ganduje outlined the party’s strategic shift, stating, “Our blueprint is to increase the numbers of legislators and governors in the country, along with the State Houses of Assembly members, by keeping the APC active throughout the year. Unlike traditional practices, we are breaking the mold, ensuring that political activity isn’t confined solely to election periods.”

Highlighting the party’s evolved role, Ganduje drew parallels with established democracies, where political parties function as year-round institutions, focusing not only on elections but also on member recruitment. He stressed the importance of being a two-way traffic entity, engaging in both educating the public on government progress and providing recommendations on party manifestos.

Ganduje further elaborated on the party’s broader agenda, expressing that it goes beyond electoral gains. He asserted that a political party should contribute to assessing the government’s performance and fostering an ongoing dialogue with the citizens. The ongoing renovation and innovative initiatives at the party’s national secretariat, he explained, symbolize progress not only for the party but also for the nation.

“In our commitment to holistic development, we’ve introduced a new church building within the party secretariat, providing a space for spiritual reflection. Additionally, we’ve established shops to eliminate street hawking around the complex and implemented concrete drainage solutions,” Ganduje remarked.

The APC Chairman’s ambitious plan signifies a paradigm shift in the party’s approach, positioning it as a continuous force for political engagement, development, and public service throughout the year.
