Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has commissioned the newly constructed Solution Market and Solution Park in Ekwulọbịa, Aguata Local Government Area, marking a significant milestone in his administration’s vision to modernize urban centers across the state.
The dual projects, inaugurated as part of a broader urban regeneration agenda, underscore Soludo’s commitment to enhancing public infrastructure while promoting economic inclusion for traders and residents.
The Solution Market, the third facility of its kind developed under Soludo’s leadership, is designed to accommodate traders displaced by the ongoing construction of the Ekwulọbịa flyover. Speaking at the commissioning, Soludo emphasized the market’s role in ensuring economic continuity, stating, “You find markets in all the nooks and crannies of Anambra, and this is no exception.” He highlighted that shop allocations in the market are free for selected beneficiaries, with local authorities having profiled eligible traders to ensure equitable access.
Complementing the market, the Solution Park offers a range of modern amenities, including parking spaces, a leisure area, solar-powered lighting, canteens, and water supply facilities. Soludo described the park as a model for modern markets, noting, “This is what a modern market should look like. Our goal is for citizens to trade and shop in pleasure.” He framed the projects as integral to elevating Anambra’s status, drawing comparisons to global cities like Dubai and Taiwan. “If we are aspiring to become like Dubai or Taiwan, we must lay a solid foundation. Our people must enjoy minimum pleasure,” he said, referencing complementary initiatives such as free education and free maternal care.
The governor also acknowledged the collaboration with local authorities, which ensured the projects’ successful execution. The Commissioner for Transportation, Patricia Igwebuike, described the nearby bus terminal as a “legacy project” aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Ekwulọbịa, further enhancing the area’s functionality. Chief Evarist Ubah, Special Adviser on Markets, hailed the developments as a step toward “complete urbanisation” of Ekwulọbịa, transforming it into a vibrant commercial hub.
Local leaders and stakeholders echoed this sentiment. Chibueze Offorbike and businessman Joseph Ezeokafor praised the transformation of what was once an undeveloped area into a bustling center of commerce and leisure, commending Soludo’s vision for sustainable urban growth.
The Solution Market and Park represent not just physical infrastructure but a strategic effort to foster economic resilience and improve the quality of life for Anambra residents, aligning with Soludo’s broader goal of building a modern, inclusive, and prosperous state.
