The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) has declared the ongoing tenure of the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, as unauthorized and illegal.

Damagum, who was serving as the PDP National Deputy Chairman (North), took over the role of acting National Chairman after the court suspended Iyorchia Ayu.

Anyanwu, despite losing the Imo State 2023 governorship election to Governor Hope Uzodinnma, maintained his position, leading to legal disputes.

During a forum meeting at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, the PDP BoT Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, expressed that the issue at hand is a significant concern for the party.

Wabara emphasized that the meeting provides an invaluable opportunity to reflect on the party’s current state, the challenges it faces, and the necessary steps towards progress and unity.

He stated, “At this critical time, Nigerians are looking to us as a party to get our affairs in order and lead the effort to free our nation from the grip of the All Progressives Congress. The leadership of the party as it currently stands is a matter that deeply concerns us all.”
