The PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) has reached out to Minister Nyesom Wike, expressing concerns over his continued membership in the party while allegedly supporting rival political groups.

The BOT urges Wike to remain loyal to the PDP and help resolve internal crises threatening the party’s unity.

BOT’s Stance on Nyesom Wike

The BOT has formally invited Wike for discussions aimed at resolving the party’s internal issues. Senator Abdul Ningi, a member of the BOT, criticized Wike’s dual role as a PDP member while simultaneously supporting rival parties like APC and others against the PDP. He emphasized that the party’s internal strife stems from dissatisfaction among members following the last general elections.

Ningi articulated concerns that some party members are actively working to undermine the PDP, stating, “The mindset of some key actors is that this party must not survive.” He reiterated that Wike’s influence in other parties while remaining in the PDP is unacceptable and detrimental to the party’s unity.

Call for Unity and Future Actions

Following a meeting with Rivers State Governor Siminalaya Fubara, the BOT decided to reach out to Wike, acknowledging his significant role in the party’s dynamics. Ningi expressed optimism that Wike is committed to staying within the PDP and contributing to its revival.

The BOT is keen on establishing a united front within the party and has taken steps to understand the minimum requirements Wike can offer to stabilize the party’s presence in Rivers State. They are preparing for further discussions with Wike to facilitate this process.
