The youth wing of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), known as the National Solidarity Vanguard, has voiced out against Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
They allege that Wike’s actions have sparked internal conflicts within the party at both the national and state levels.
The group holds the former governor accountable for the rise of factionalism in the Rivers State House of Assembly. It’s worth noting that Siminalayi Fubara, the current governor of Rivers State, had previously declared the positions of approximately 25 assembly members, who were loyal to Wike, as vacant.
In the midst of the ongoing political turmoil in the state, Governor Fubara maintained that the shift of the assembly members, led by Amaewhule Martins, from the PDP to the All-Progressives Congress (APC) was unlawful.
During a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the group’s Executive Director labeled Wike as a party saboteur. He stated that Wike, who was once a significant figure in the party, played a crucial role in the party’s significant setback. His actions have had a costly impact, and the group feels compelled to speak out.
The Executive Director further stated, “Considering the extent to which he has undermined the party in favor of the APC, we can no longer regard him as a member of our party. He is already reaping the benefits of the betrayal he committed against the PDP.”
He concluded with a stern warning to all those who prioritize their ambitions over the welfare and future of the party. He emphasized that the party cannot afford to lose more assembly members or members from other states, especially with the upcoming general elections.
