The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to answer for purported anti-party activities. Wike is expected to appear before the PDP’s disciplinary committee following recent controversial statements.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, revealed the summons in an interview with Channels TV on Monday. Abdullahi confirmed that Wike has been formally invited to discuss his recent comments, which included a statement about “putting fire in their states” concerning PDP governors. Abdullahi criticized Wike’s choice of words, labeling the remarks as “disappointing” and expressing that the party did not support his comments.
The PDP’s decision comes on the heels of Wike’s public endorsement of his role under President Bola Tinubu, amid ongoing criticisms and speculation about his position. During a PDP Congress in Rivers State, Wike notably responded to critics, suggesting they should “go and hug the transformer” if they disapproved of his role in Tinubu’s administration.
As the sole opposition member in Tinubu’s cabinet, Wike’s position and statements have sparked significant debate within the party.
